Special thanks to Bobby West who brought the WORD on DECEMBER 3RD.
Elijah cries to the Lord...
1 Kings 19:14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
1 Kings 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
God has people and resources we sometimes know nothing about. Take a stand for God and He will do the rest. Be a leader in a world of followers and see how God can use you for His glory and for his purpose.
November was a fast and furious month filled with football games, late night Fifth Quarters, fall festivals and Thanksgiving holiday festivities! Surely that's enough to wear out some teenagers right....WRONG! These guys are always up for some fun, so of course they were up for a late night skate night. We started the month of December just the way they like it...FROM LATE IN THE EVENING, UNTIL EARLY IN THE MORNING. Sometimes I wonder if our Ignite teens are nocturnal..?!?!?. We began the night at 9pm with everyone wearing festive Christmas ensembles but by midnight, most everyone was wearing more than just red and green. This trip provided purple, blue and black fashion accessories for everyone, and it came free of charge! That's right, everyone had their choice of a free bruise, bump or scrap. WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!
I would like to thank Brother Tracy for being our driver and to the chaperones, Cullen and Meagan Murray and Bobby and Jessica West. You guys were a big help and your skating abilities proved that you are not as old as you look! HAHAHA
Until next time.....
-Jessica
I am a child of God. 1 John3:1
Big thanks to Brother Tracy and Sister Pam for driving the bus and for the detour to Pizza Hut! Nothing like pizza and chicken wings after a long day of swimming!
Colors flying...slippin' and slidin'...ALL OUT WAR broke out on Saturday evening at the Richardson's house! It's 2017 and we don't tar and feather anymore, we just oil and powder! This crazy evening started with a homemade slip N' slide covered in vegetable oil and ended with blasts of war powder...and no one was safe! Thanks to Doug and Angela Richardson we had one MESSY FUN NIGHT and color stained shirts to prove it!
but SOMETIMES NOT SO EASY if you are like these guys who had prom the night before. It was a late night for a few of our youth but Keri Len, Alyssa, Chandler, Jayden, and Haylee proved that they will put Jesus before their sometimes dreaded alarm clock. Their dedication to Sunday School attendance proved to be rewarding as Brother Matt hooked them up with a hot breakfast, a study from the book of Daniel and LOTS OF COFFEE! They even shared with Pastor! PUT JESUS FIRST in all that you do and He will take care of you!
Thank the Lord that the rain held off and we finally decided on a movie called "Woodlawn"! The evening kicked off with a "Pic a Prop" photo booth and as you can see from the pics, it was almost more entertaining than the movie. Woodlawn turned out to be a fantastic choice and thanks to "Matt the chef," the zummos and boudain were a yummy addition. Until next time...
What a great time we had at Camp Cho-Yeh! The weekend was jammed packed full of activities and excitement. With zip line, crate stacking, giant swing, laser tag, basketball, carpet-ball, jumping pillow, marshmallow roasting, and lots of laughs in between; our bodies were worn out but our hearts and minds weren't too tired to seek God during all three services. Young lives were challenged as Brother Zak, Brother Matt and evangelist Brother Jason Stidham brought a word from God. We were reminded to be persuaders of the gospel and inspired to stand up for Jesus Christ. With tear filled eyes, many young people recommitted their lives to the Lord. We would like to say a special thank you to all who support the Ignite Youth Group financially but most importantly to those who spent time in prayer for this retreat. We are looking forward to what God has in store for 2017 as we grow closer as a group and closer to Christ!
This festive bunch was full of Christmas cheer! What a great time we had stealing gifts from each other and busting into boxes! Best Christmas party EVER! To all the Ignite Youth, let us continue to be full of joy as we spend this holiday season with family and friends, always remembering the true reason for the season. Happy Birthday Jesus!
December 4 Manger Menagerie was a BIG SUCCESS! Thanks to all who helped out!
On February 10, 11, & 12 The Ignite Youth Group is headed to Camp Cho-Yeh in Livingston, TX. Teens will be chaperoned by their four youth leaders who are trained and committed to helping the youth grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. With three services packed into one weekend, we pray that friendships are built with each other and with God. The fun will begin before leaving the church and won't stop until we get back home. Expect great food, crazy games, campfires, s'mores, team activities, and more! If you plan to attend the Winter Retreat at Camp Cho-Yeh, please make it a point to attend at least 5 youth services at Hillister Assembly, fill out your waiver and permission slip, and GET READY FOR AN AMAZZZZZZING EXPERIENCE!
Please see youth leaders Matt, Jessica, Zak or Ashley for more information.
